“Can this drying red marker last the entire drawing?”
This original artwork, part of the “Displaced” series, combines digital and analogue expressions of generative art. The drawing was first made with code using an algorithm to generate unexpected outcomes. From hundreds of those outcomes, a subjectively appealing composition was picked by intuition and then transported to paper using a drying red felt tip marker and a black fine-liner pen. The paper is purposely moved between the first and second layers to create a misalignment of the drawings.
The drying marker creates a degrading variation of colour saturation and texture, adding an extra layer of unpredictability to the artwork.
Over 30,000 short lines were drawn, applying over 100m of paint on paper.
