“What if both layers were misaligned from the start?”
This original artwork, part of the “Displaced” series, combines digital and analogue expressions of generative art. The drawing was initially made with code using an algorithm to generate multiple outcomes of grids of blobs and crosses.
One of the outcomes, with a subjectively appealing composition, was picked by intuition and then transported to paper in two stages. The paper was slightly rotated before a layer of 3,500 unique orange blobs was drawn with a felt tip marker. Then the paper was slightly rotated clockwise, and a fine-liner pen drew the 3500 unique black crosses.
About 30m of paint was applied to the paper.
Made with code (Javascript & SVG).
